On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the ACK Diocese of Butere, under the leadership of Bishop Rose Okeno, held an open conversation with over 204 girls, drawn from a cross the Diocese at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral Butere.
The event commenced with an inspiring message from the Diocesan Youth minister, who drew insights from 2 Samuel 20:14-22, highlighting the impactful role of a young girl. He emphasized the importance of courage and the necessity of using one’s voice, noting that a title is not required to effect change.
Furthermore, he underscored the significance of speaking wisely, as our words possess the power to either uplift or harm. In conclusion, he encouraged us to be young women who communicate with courage, act with wisdom, and strive to transform our world for a brighter future.
Bishop Okeno commended the industrious women who have persevered through numerous challenges. She delivered a compelling session on “staying pure in a polluted world”, as well as “stepping up to courageous leadership” for young girls, drawing inspiration from Esther 4:16. She elaborated on the concept of gradual positioning, using Esther’s journey to royalty as an example of how leadership opportunities can arise.

She encouraged attendees to position themselves strategically and to recognize opportunities as they arise. She emphasized the power of frequent prayer, asserting that it unlocks the potential for achieving our aspirations. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of maintaining moral integrity and uprightness, urging young girls to align themselves with God to lead a virtuous life.
She advised participants to remain vigilant and to avoid sin by avoiding unnecessary conversations, complaints, arguments, and gossip. She concluded by urging everyone to be intentional in all their endeavors, and be prepared to take risks.
