Bishop Rose Okeno of the ACK Diocese of Butere presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Namasoli Hospital water project, an initiative poised to benefit over 300 households in the surrounding community. This ambitious project, valued at five million Kenyan shillings, is being developed in collaboration with the Christian Engineers Development Company based in the UK and St. Mary’s Church in Finchley, UK.

The bishop’s sermon centered on the theme of God initiating transformative change from the book of Isaiah chapter 43, likening it to the creation of streams in the desert. “God is indeed doing a new thing by facilitating the flow of water at the Namasoli Health Centre. In light of this, we must remain steadfast in our focus on Him,” she emphasized.

Moses Khatete, the hospital administrator, informed the attendees that Phase One of the project is expected to be completed within a week. This initial phase will include drilling, development, and test pumping. Phase Two will focus on solarization, the installation of water tanks, and the construction of a community water kiosk.

Dr. Ibrahim Amira, the chairperson, urged the community to embrace the project to ensure its sustainability. The bishop was hosted by Ven. Canon Peter Andere, Archdeacon of Mulwanda, Rev. Jane Orembe, vicar of Namasoli Parish, and hospital chaplain Rose Sunguti, among other church leaders.
