The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Butere in partnership with St. Dunstan’s Episcopal church in the USA is poised to initiate a water drilling project designed to support young girls and widows who currently endure long journeys to access water. This initiative aims to significantly enhance the economic and social well-being of the community.
The Right Reverend Rose Okeno emphasized that the program is in alignment with the Diocesan vision of bridging gaps to engage with communities and positively impact the lives of vulnerable individuals.
During a meeting of the Diocesan Water Ad-Hoc Committee held on Tuesday morning at the Bakhoya boardroom, she highlighted the risks faced by girls and widows who travel extensive distances in search of water, underscoring the necessity of providing clean water through this project.

Bishop Okeno expressed gratitude to Dunstans Episcopal Church in the USA, through Reverend Shadrack Owuor, for their generous funding of the project in partnership with the ACK Diocese of Butere.
The ad-hoc committee will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of this vital initiative within the diocese.
