Bishop Rose Okeno of the ACK Diocese of Butere is urging Christians to strive for peace and unity, emphasizing the importance of living as one family. She highlighted the significance of mutual respect within families, encouraging children to honor their parents, even as they grow older. Bishop Okeno also underscored the vital role of parents in guiding their children’s development, reminding the congregation that parents hold the responsibility of nurturing their children in a positive and supportive environment.
Her remarks were delivered when she presided over Family Sunday service at St. Peter’s Ematundu Parish, which focused on the theme of family in alignment with the Diocesan observance of Family Sunday across all churches.
Drawing inspiration from Exodus 20:12, which emphasizes the commandment for children to honor their parents to enjoy a long life on Earth, Bishop Okeno conveyed a powerful message about the significance of familial relationships.

Additionally, the Bishop confirmed 38 new members into the faith, encouraging the parishioners to warmly welcome them and accompany them on their spiritual journey.
The sentiments expressed by Bishop Okeno were echoed by the parish vicar, Rev. John Aponga, who expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s unwavering dedication to God’s ministry.
