The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Butere, led by Bishop Rose Okeno, held an Easter Sunday service at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere, delivering a compelling message that urged Christians to change their perceptions in order to truly see Christ.
Drawing inspiration from the book of John 20:1-20, Bishop Okeno emphasized the themes of hope and faith, stressing the importance of maintaining unwavering belief in God, especially during life’s most trying moments.
Addressing the congregation, the fourth diocesan Bishop acknowledged that, like the disciples of Jesus, many individuals may feel lost or hopeless at times. However, she encouraged believers to remain dedicated to serving God wholeheartedly, regardless of the challenges they may encounter. She noted that people often seek Christ in moments of sadness, fear, action, surprise, and joy.

Furthermore, Bishop Okeno underscored the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, affirming that His triumph over death offers hope and salvation to all who have faith. She urged the congregation to embrace the joy and hope that can be found in Christ, and to overcome any misconceptions that may cloud their vision of Him.
In conclusion, she called upon believers to heed Christ’s teachings and to respond to His call with open hearts. By recognizing and welcoming the presence of Christ in their lives, believers can experience genuine joy, hope, and fulfillment in their spiritual journey.
