The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Butere, under the leadership of Bishop Rose Okeno, warmly welcomed the Butere Girls High School drama team upon their return from the national drama festivals in Nakuru. The Bishop conducted a prayer service for the students, who were accompanied by their principal, Jennifer Omondi, at the ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral.
The girls had faced challenges during their performance, including alleged intimidation by the police and inadequate stage setup, which led them to exit the stage after singing the national anthem. Despite these obstacles, Bishop Okeno delivered a sermon based on Genesis chapter 39, urging the girls to always turn to God as the ultimate author of their lives, regardless of the challenges they may encounter.

Drawing parallels to the story of Joseph, the Bishop emphasized that God’s plans are unchangeable and work in mysterious ways, even in the face of injustice and adversity. She encouraged the girls to trust in God’s purpose, reminding them that He is the master of all circumstances.
Bishop Okeno expressed her pride in the girls’ resilience and dedication in representing their school with excellence in the drama competition and other areas. She commended them for upholding the school’s reputation and encouraged them to continue striving for success in all their endeavors.
