In the summer of 2001, a divine calling led Ruth Dietz to embark on a life-changing mission trip to Butere, a small village in western Kenya. Little did she know that this journey would ignite a spark of hope that would touch the lives of countless children and families in need.
Upon her return from Butere, Ruth was profoundly moved by the dire educational needs of the children in the village and the surrounding areas. Determined to make a difference, she took it upon herself to organize a child sponsorship program. The goal was clear: to provide education for children whose parents could not afford to send them to school.
In the program’s inaugural year, seven children found sponsors. Yet, Ruth’s unwavering commitment and the overwhelming support of individuals and church groups led to exponential growth. When she returned with a mission team in 2003, the number of sponsored children had soared to over 80. Today, this program has blossomed, embracing more than 150 children under its nurturing wings.
But the journey did not stop there. As the support and needs of Butere and its neighboring areas continued to burgeon, the mission’s scope expanded exponentially. It became more than just sponsoring children’s education; it evolved into a multifaceted endeavor. Now, support and mission teams not only provide educational opportunities but also extend a helping hand through medical outreach clinics, aid to men and women living with HIV, the provision of vital water wells, and an array of essential resources – from food, mattresses, mosquito nets, bibles, to clothing and more.
To better coordinate these growing resources and address the ever-expanding needs, Rainbow Christian Missions was born. This organization stands as a testament to faith in action, a beacon of hope for those in Butere and beyond. Through Rainbow Christian Missions, it is hoped that the necessary resources and funds will be made available to continue the sacred work that God has called them to undertake, extending a helping hand to their brothers and sisters in Kenya.
In the heart of this inspiring narrative, Bishop Rose, a symbol of love and encouragement, stepped forward to bless and uplift the children sponsored by the Rainbow Christian Missions Team. With her support and guidance, the mission’s reach has expanded, and hope has flourished in the hearts of the underprivileged.
This is a story of faith, dedication, and the power of collective action. It’s a story where one person’s calling has transformed into a movement that is changing lives and bringing hope to a community in need.
