ACK Diocese of Butere is looking for well-trained people in tailoring and garment making to fill the vacant positions of i.) Technical supervisor

                                        ii.) Sewing instructors

1. TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR (1 post)

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Supervises:2 Tailoring Instructors

Responsibilities

1. Support in coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities in line with the diocese principles, standards, donor and GOK requirements.
2. Manage smooth day to day operations of the school.
3. Provide hands on technical support in tailoring, maintenance, service and repair of machines.
4. Ensure safety and quality standards are met by instructors and students.
5. Identification, mapping and documentation of project promising practices.
6. Represent the diocese in project meetings at all levels.
7. Reviewing work orders and checklists and overseeing instructors’ work to ensure that all assigned projects are well done, completed on time and within the budget.
8. Making inventories and requisition for materials and goods and record keeping.
9. Evaluating instructors’ performance providing recommendation into the employee evaluation and disciplinary processes.
10. Maintain good relationships with clients providing them with right information.
11. Keep track of class attendance on a daily basis; identify gaps and correct.
12. Work with other departments to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
13. Maintain line cleanliness through good housekeeping practices.
14. Engage in any other duties assigned to them by the management.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Diploma in dress making, tailoring, fashion design, sewing or any other related field.
2. 5 years’ relevant work experience in a similar or related position with hands on skills in repairs.
3. Experience in project management, resource mobilization or business administration is an added advantage.
4. Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications.
5. Must be a committed and mature Christian who demonstrates sound work ethics, servant attitude and resourcefulness in executing tasks.
6. Possess excellent communication, planning, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills. 
7. Ability to work independently and as a flexible team player, self-driven, and possess cultural sensitivity.

2. VACANCY: SEWING INSTRUCTORS (2 POSTS)

Reports to: Technical Supervisor

Supervises: Students

Responsibilities:

• Teach students how to use sewing machines and other tools.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs and skill levels of students.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback on their work.
• Create a safe and positive learning environment.
• Encourage creativity and experimentation with fabric and design.
• Ensure all students follow proper safety protocols while using sewing equipment.
• Manage classroom materials and supplies.
• Collaborate with other staff to plan and organize sewing events or projects.

Requirements:

• Minimum certificate in tailoring or sewing and design.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sewing and designing.
• Excellent knowledge of sewing techniques and equipment.
• Ability to teach and explain sewing concepts clearly and effectively.
• Strong communication skills to interact with students and colleagues.
• Patience and enthusiasm to work with students of varying skill levels.
• Strong organizational skills to plan and prepare lessons.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays and weekends.
• Passion for sewing and a desire to inspire and motivate students to learn and improve their skills.
