Butere Girls High School hosted an Alumni Mentorship Weekend, uniting former students, teachers, church leaders, and current learners for a profound experience of mentorship, inspiration, and fellowship. During the event, Bishop Okeno delivered a speech reflecting on Psalms 127, underscoring the notion that enduring success is achieved when God remains central to all pursuits. She urged students to embrace humility, rely on God, and cherish the strong Christian foundation that the institution has cultivated over the years.

She praised the alumni for their unwavering dedication and commitment to mentoring students, despite their busy schedules. She highlighted that the institution has produced numerous distinguished women who continue to make significant contributions to the nation. The alumni were acknowledged for offering career guidance, mentorship, support, and opportunities to learners, while promoting unity and encouraging excellence.

The weekend also served as a platform to showcase ongoing development initiatives within the school, including the groundbreaking of a four-story dormitory project valued at Ksh. 89 million. This project is anticipated to greatly enhance student accommodation and improve the overall learning environment.

Drawing inspiration from Jeremiah 29:7, Bishop Okeno encouraged students, alumni, and stakeholders to seek the welfare and prosperity of their communities through prayer, service, and responsible leadership. She reminded them that “when the city prospers, we prosper,” emphasizing the importance of contributing positively to society for the common good.

The mentorship weekend reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education, leadership development, and nurturing future generations of God-fearing and impactful women.
