God’s Presence Inspires Joy: Bishop Okeno Urges St. Mathews’s Ituti Fraternity

Ituti Senior School fraternity welcomes Bishop Rose for a thanksgiving ceremony after 15 years of inception on Tuesday, May 26, 2026

ACK St. Matthews Ituti Senior School hosted a Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, at the school grounds. The service was officiated by the Rt. Rev. Rose Okeno, Bishop of the Diocese of Butere.

During the ceremony, School Principal Mr. Edwin Amariati reflected on the institution’s history and development. He noted that the school, was established in 2011 with an initial enrollment of 20 students, and it has grown to accommodate over 500 students. He also said that the entire school fraternity was excited to host a bishop since its inception for the last 15 years. He proudly announced a significant academic achievement for the first time, the school successfully sent 21 students to university, earning recognition and commendation from the broader community.

In her address, Bishop Okeno praised the students for their decency, discipline, and neat appearance, and commended the principal and staff for maintaining a well-organized institution. She encouraged parents to continue supporting the school to foster further growth and success.

Drawing from Luke 1:46–55, Bishop Okeno emphasized that true joy is inspired by the presence of God. highlighting Mary’s song of praise (the Magnificat), she noted that Mary’s joy stemmed not from her circumstances but from God’s favor and faithfulness. She urged Christians to trust in God’s presence, remain humble, and rejoice in the Lord, knowing that God remembers His promises, uplifts the humble, and works through those who faithfully depend on Him.

Concluding her sermon, Bishop Okeno called upon the congregation to present themselves before the Lord, allowing Him to use them as vessels for fulfilling His divine purpose in their lives. The Thanksgiving Service was characterized by gratitude, celebration of achievements, and encouragement for continued commitment to excellence in education and Christian values.
