Rev. Canon Silas Hopillo, the administrative secretary of the ACK Diocese of Butere, has urged children’s ministry teachers to consistently nurture Sunday school children with spiritual teachings from the Word of God. Canon Silas emphasized that young minds are highly receptive and can easily absorb what they are taught at an early age.
Furthermore, the Diocesan Secretary drawing inspiration from the book of Luke 2 verse 52, encouraged teachers to instill in children the importance of prayer and communal fellowship, describing these practices as essential exercises in God’s ministry.
He delivered these remarks on Thursday, December 11, 2025, during the official opening ceremony of the ACK Diocese of Butere Children Ministry Boys and Girls Brigade Camp at St. John’s Khwisero Parish.

Rev. Robert Weswa, the Diocesan Brigade Coordinator, stated that the camp aims to equip children with fundamental brigade skills, including first aid, bonfire activities, and games. Additionally, the camp will focus on teaching the power of discipline and Bible exposition.
Children Ministry Coordinator Rev. Rhoda Isomi said the camp started on high attracting more than 758 participants drawn from various parishes in the diocese. The camp is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
