The ACK St. Peters Masaba parish in Butere Sub-county has successfully distributed food supplies and beddings to orphans and widows within the community. The initiative, led by the parish’s programs coordinator, Dan Orengo, was carried out by the social response team following a thorough assessment to identify families in need.
Orengo highlighted the challenging circumstances faced by many people, emphasizing that numerous widows and orphans struggle to secure adequate food, with only a fortunate few managing to have two meals a day. He referenced the teachings from the Book of James, Chapter 1, Verse 27, which encourages the community to care for orphans and widows in their distress while remaining untainted by the world.
The parish vicar, Rev. Washington Amutashi, affirmed the church’s commitment to serving in God’s ministry, stressing the responsibility of Christians to support the less privileged. He noted that assistance is provided to deserving individuals without regard to their denominational affiliation.

Speaking when he presided over the donation service at the parish on Thursday December 4, 2025, Rev. Amutashi announced that four houses have been constructed to provide shelter for families in need, in addition to covering school fees for orphans. He urged Christians and all well-wishers to join in the effort to support the less fortunate members of the community.
In conclusion, the vicar stated that they will continue the program to support the less privileged in the community as it purely aligns with the ACK diocesan vision of responding to the needs in the society.
