A total of 199 women from the ACK Diocese of Butere have officially joined the Mothers Union. These women, representing six deaneries and St. Luke’s Cathedral, donned their blue uniforms and white scarves as they prepared to pledge their commitment to God’s ministry.
Diocesan Bishop Rose Okeno encouraged the women to embody the role of good shepherds, emphasizing the importance of serving their communities through the proclamation of the Gospel and the touching of souls. Drawing inspiration from the Book of John, Bishop Okeno highlighted the necessity for them to become exemplary servants of God.
The service, held at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral, was graced by the presence of Dr. Prince Singh and his wife, Atoholi, who commended the women for their courageous decision to engage in God’s ministry.

Among the deaneries, Shikunga led in enrollment with 44 women, followed closely by Inaya with 40. Shiraha and Namasoli deaneries contributed 37 and 36 women, respectively, while Shiatsala, Khwisero, and St. Luke’s Cathedral had 17, 15, and 10 participants, respectively.
Following the service, Bishop Okeno, along with Dr. Prince Singh and wife Atoholi, visited the first Diocesan Vicar General, Retired Rev. Elphas Nyamwata, where they offered pastoral care.
