The Bishop of the ACK Diocese of Butere officiated the official opening of a free public legal aid clinic at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere. This initiative has assembled a dedicated team of lawyers who will provide pro bono services and legal advice to the local community.

During the opening ceremony, the Bishop addressed the congregation, highlighting the pressing need for legal assistance among many individuals in the community who are facing complex legal issues. Her observations were supported by Ms. Dissi Obanda from Jurorbox Consultancy, who noted that the establishment of the legal aid clinic aligns with recommendations from a research study conducted two years ago. This study aimed to assess the level of legal knowledge and its utilization within the community.

Over two hundred people gathered, seeking legal assistance from the experts available at the clinic.

This is the first of the pre-lauch activities towards the launching of “Unboxing the Law research in Butere”, scheduled for Friday August 15, 2025 with the second activity is clergy training scheduled for Thursday August 14, 2025.

This turnout underscores the significant demand for accessible legal support in the region.
