The ACK Diocese of Butere has officially launched the Women in Formal Employment (WIFE) fellowship program, dedicated to serving God’s ministry in various capacities. This initiative brings together women in formal employment from all parishes within the diocese.
On Saturday morning, over 100 women gathered at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere to affirm their commitment to financially support the broader Women Ministry programs within the ministry. Rose Muhanda, a member of the Diocesan Women’s Council, emphasized the group’s mission to spearhead initiatives that will benefit teen mothers, young mothers, and widows.
In addition, Muhanda announced the “Ten Shillings Initiative,” designed to raise funds for these vital programs. “We invite all women in formal employment to join us in these initiatives to further God’s ministry,” she urged.

Her sentiments were echoed by the fourth diocesan bishop, Rose Okeno, who commended the WIFE team members for their dedication to serving God. “Today is a historic moment for us,” she stated. “We have been praying for this day for a year, as God placed this vision in our hearts. Although we were uncertain about how to begin, we are immensely grateful for the turnout and support we have received.”
During the service, the bishop underscored the significance of presenting oneself as a well-dressed Christian. Drawing inspiration from Colossians 3:12-17, The Rt. Rev. Rose urged the congregation to adorn themselves with qualities such as compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, all of which are essential components of love.

The service was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including The Very Rev. Moses Omoke, Provost of St. Luke’s Cathedral, and Commissioner Vivian Okoma, Vice Chairperson of the Kakamega County Public Service Board, along with numerous other professionals from the community.
The launch of the WIFE fellowship program marks a significant step forward in empowering women within the diocese and enhancing their contributions to the community and ministry.
