The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Butere’s Administrative Secretary, Reverend Canon Silas Hopillo, delivered a powerful message to Christians, urging them to surrender control of their lives to God in order to experience His blessings.

Canon Hopillo emphasized that God is the ultimate authority and knows what is best for those who have faith in Him. Drawing inspiration from the book of John 13, the Diocesan secretary encouraged Christians to seek guidance from their inner selves before making important decisions.

He said these when he presided over the burial service of the late Mama Phanice Bilha Arumi in Marenyo sub-location, Butere sub-county. The service was attended by distinguished guests including Archdeacons Rev. Ven Canon Peter Andere of Mulwanda Archdeaconry and Ven. Daniel Inyangala of Buchenya Archdeaconry, as well as the provost of St. Luke’s Cathedral, The Very Reverend Moses Omoke. More than twenty members of the ACK Butere Diocese clergy house were also present to support their colleague, Rev. Gilbert Ongachi Arumi, in his time of loss.

Rev. Arumi fondly remembered his mother as a loving individual who always prayed for her children and encouraged them in their church ministry. The late Phanice Arumi, an 80-year-old mother of ten and grandmother to many, passed away after a long illness. A devoted member of ACK Shikunga parish, she joined the mothers’ union in 1986 and will be cherished for her charitable acts and devout prayer life.

The burial service concluded by midday with a procession to the graveside with the Shikunga Deanery Rural Dean, Rev. Washington Kataka cautioning the local administration against inviting politicians to speak at the event, which was heeded, while acknowledging the significance of all attendees at the burial.
