Bishop Rose Okeno has reiterated her call to the clergy of the ACK Butere Diocese to uphold professionalism in their ministry work.
During the clergy chapter held at the ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Rt. Rev. Okeno emphasized the importance of professional conduct in ministry, urging them to limit verbal communication on official matters. She also encouraged the clergy to embrace modern technology in order to stay current with advancements in the field.
Furthermore, the bishop cautioned against engaging in careless conversations that may lead Christians astray from the path of God, instead urging them to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
At the meeting, Bishop Okeno introduced Rev. Wellington Matakwa, who has recently rejoined the clergy and has been assigned to the Emulunya parish, replacing the retired Rev. Jane Oyombe. Rev. Matakwa, currently serving as the deputy principal at Imbale Primary School in Kakamega South Sub-County, is expected to fulfill his duties effectively given the close proximity of his station to the church.
Rev. Rodha Isomi was introduced as the new children’s ministry coordinator, Rev. Geoffrey Opembe was handed the BUCODET docket. At the same time, Rev. Robert Weswa was named the newly created Brigade and teens docket coordinator.
In other parish transfers, Rev. Irene Kwamboka has been appointed as the new vicar of Eshirembe parish, taking over from Rev. Martin Malika who has been reassigned to Bumamu parish. Additionally, Rev. Wilberforce Kwache of Buseta parish has exchanged positions with Rev. Thomas Mutuli of Muluwa parish.
Furthermore, Rev. Justus Swaka has assumed the role of vicar at Iranda parish, succeeding Rev. Eunice Anyanje who is now serving as a curate at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral. Rev. Charles Watsabina has been transferred from Imanga parish to Enyanya parish, filling the vacancy left by Rev. Steve Onani who is now stationed at Shianda parish. Imanga parish is now under the leadership of Rev. Moses Okwayo.
