The ACK Butere diocese Bishop Rose Okeno continued with her call on students to seek the wisdom of God to reach their desired destinations. The Rt. Rev. Rose emphasized the benefits that come with wisdom that will enable them to be disciplined in their undertakings.
In her sermon at St. Mathew’s Ikomero Secondary School in Khwisero sub-county, the Bishop highlighted the benefits of wisdom which will help the students to have a peaceful atmosphere.
“Solomon encourages us to follow God’s ways, trust Him, and pursue His wisdom as you treat others properly”, said the fourth Butere diocesan Bishop.
In her sermon full of pieces of advice to students, the Bishop encouraged students to have the right mentality and heart to receive wisdom from God which is equivalent to His knowledge as it is highlighted in the book of Proverbs 3:1-10.
“Wisdom does not come on a silver platter but through hard lessons, receiving corrections, and because God means well even as he disciplines”, acknowledged the bishop.
Her sermon revolved around King Solomon, the writer of the book of Proverbs in the Holy Bible as she encouraged the students to read the word of God for them to gain the right direction of their paths.
“Each one of us has a dream. Remember to acknowledge God to allow Him to direct our paths for will be sure of achieving and arriving at our destinations”, she noted.
“One of the things in this text is a father’s exhortation to their child. Move rightly with God by valuing his word. Don’t forget God’s commandment because you will win favor before God”, continued her sermon.
The Rt. Rev. Rose Okeno was speaking on Tuesday morning at St. Mathew’s Ikomero Secondary School in Khwisero sub-county during the induction of new students including 108 form-one students who reported at school this year.
The wisdom sermon emphasized happiness, guidance, and contentment as great benefits in the students’ lives as they also gain the favor of the Lord and honor.
The service which was also attended by the school teachers touched on a peaceful life and living longer as one of the great benefits of the knowledge of God.
The school’s principal Carolyne Angaya used the occasion to praise the diocesan Bishop for the great support of offering spiritual guidance to the school.
“You have been supportive to us and what we can promise as a school is good results. Actions speak louder than words and what we achieved in last year’s result is just but a start but expect more than 50 students going to the universities next year”, said Mrs. Angaya.
The principal added that this year’s 108 candidates dubbed The Victors are targeting a mean score of 6.1.
