Butere Community Development Trust (BUCODET) is seeking to hire a Field Officer, a crucial step in ensuring the effective implementation and expansion of the program’s initiatives. BUCODET, a joint initiative of the ACK Diocese of Butere and Five Talents (UK), seeks to empower local communities by forming savings and credit groups among small groups of Christians. These groups aim to improve financial stability and enable participants to build a better future. Moreover, the program offers essential business training to equip group members with the skills needed for successful entrepreneurship, fostering self-reliance and prosperity.

            Qualifications:

1. Education: A Diploma in a relevant field such as community development, social work, business administration, or a related discipline. A bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.

2. Experience: Previous experience in community development, microfinance, or related fields is desirable. Experience working with grassroots organizations and knowledge of rural development issues would be beneficial.

3. Age: Between twenty-five to forty years.

4. Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for engaging with diverse community members, facilitating group discussions, and delivering training sessions effectively.

4. Organizational Skills: The ability to organize and prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently in a dynamic environment is crucial for success in this role.

5. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting is important for monitoring and evaluating program outcomes and identifying areas for improvement.

6. Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and respect for the cultural norms, values, and dynamics of the communities served by BUCODET is essential for building trust and rapport with beneficiaries.

7. Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), are necessary for preparing reports and presentations.

Responsibilities:

1. Community Engagement: The field officer will be responsible for engaging with local communities within the Diocese of Butere, promoting the objectives of BUCODET, and encouraging participation in savings and credit groups.

2. Group Formation and Support: Facilitate the formation of savings and credit groups, providing guidance on group dynamics, financial management, and record-keeping. Offer ongoing support and monitoring to ensure the smooth functioning of these groups.

3. Training and Capacity Building: Organize and conduct business training sessions for group members, covering topics such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, marketing, and basic business management skills.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor the progress of savings and credit groups, track financial performance, and assess the impact of BUCODET’s interventions. Collect data and feedback to inform program improvements and decision-making.

5. Networking and Collaboration: Collaborate with local stakeholders, including churches, community leaders, and other organizations, to leverage resources and support for BUCODET’s initiatives. Build partnerships that enhance the program’s reach and effectiveness.

6. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on field activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for program management and donor reporting purposes.
