Bishop Rose Okeno officially inaugurated the Ebukhang’a Community Water Project, at Eshibeye, Lurambi Sub-county, a significant initiative funded by St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in the USA in collaboration with the ACK Diocese of Butere.
The project marked a pivotal advancement in the socio-economic development of the underserved community. It not only reflected a humanitarian commitment to enhancing living conditions but also underscored a dedicated effort to uphold the fundamental human right to clean water.
The community, long plagued by unreliable and hazardous water sources, celebrated the launch with songs and dances, anticipating improvements in health and economic productivity. Bishop Rose emphasized that access to clean water will significantly reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, previously exacerbated by contaminated, stagnant water and unhygienic retrieval methods.

She also highlighted that residents, particularly women and children, will be relieved of the daily burden of fetching water, allowing them to redirect their time towards education and income-generating activities.
Reverend Elisham Nyamwata, the project’s coordinator, echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude for the community’s resilience and prayers that contributed to the project’s success. He urged the community to use the water responsibly and to protect the infrastructure from vandalism.
The event was also hosted by Archdeacon emeritus Rev. Fredrick Nyamwata and also attended by The Very Rev. Moses Omoke, among very many others.
