The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Butere has commissioned and officially launched brigade companies in thirty-three parishes. The Right Reverend Rose Okeno presided over the commissioning service on Saturday morning, marking the official closure of the Diocesan Brigade Camp at ACK St. John’s Khwisero Secondary School.
These brigade companies are designed to equip Sunday School children with essential skills, including first aid and other life-saving techniques. Drawing inspiration from Isaiah 60:1, Bishop Okeno encouraged the young participants to “arise and shine,” emphasizing that their time to contribute to the ministry has arrived.

During the service, the bishop also presented certificates to Sunday School teachers who participated in the Provincial Conference, where the ACK Diocese of Butere achieved the third position in participant attendance.
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Reverend Rodah Isomi, expressed gratitude to all the parishes that participated in the camp, which attracted nearly 800 delegates.
