Claire Akiso Laid to Rest at Their Eshirali Home as Bishop Rose Okeno Comforts Family to Remain Thankful to God

The late Claire Akiso Hopillo has been laid to rest at their Eshinali home, Eshirali sub-location in Khwisero sub county. Claire, last born daughter to Diocesan Administrative Secretary Rev. Canon Silas Hopillo, was laid to rest after a service presided over by Bishop Rose Okeno.

In her sermon, The Rt. Rev. Rose Okeno encouraged the bereaved family to continue trusting in God despite the challenges they face. Drawing inspiration from the book of Revelation chapter 14, the bishop urged the congregation to always remain thankful to God and practice patience. She emphasized that Christians are always tested by they have to practice humility and tolerance all the times.

Canon Hopillo expressed his gratitude to God for having given him the opportunity of having Claire as his daughter. In addition, he thanked his wife Rev. Dr. Gladys Hopillo for having dedicated her time taking care of Claire who was diagnosed with sickle cell, noting that Claire’s condition taught him lessons of always being thankful to God and need of caring for others.

Claire died on Friday November 7 2025, during her mother’s graduation ceremony at St. Paul’s University and she will be remembered as unifying factor in the family who always brought joy among her siblings and friends.
