A somber atmosphere enveloped the village of Eshirali in Khwisero Sub-county as the body of the late Claire Awiso, daughter of Diocesan Administrative Secretary Rev. Canon Silas Hopillo, arrived for burial preparations on Friday. The profound grief expressed by family members, friends, and relatives underscored the deep bonds of love and shared experiences that united them, as if their world had come to a standstill.

During a brief service led by Rev. Eliud Wakhu, vicar at the ACK St. Michael’s and All Angels Eshirali parish, family members reflected on Claire’s vibrant spirit and her dedication to her education, aspiring to pursue a career in medicine. Her father, Rev. Canon Silas Hopillo, recounted her resilience in the face of pain and suffering, which necessitated daily medication in the hope of recovery.

Her mother, Rev. Dr. Gladys Wangila, spoke of Claire’s inspirational influence on her own academic pursuits describing how she was her source of happiness. Claire’s siblings were visibly overcome with grief, their laughter and warmth seemingly extinguished. The late Claire Awiso will be laid to rest on Friday November 14, 2025.
