The Episcopal Relief and Development has commended the work of the Rt. Rev. Rose Okeno at the ACK Diocese of Butere. Nicole Hoseni, the Director of the USA based organisation, highlighted Bishop Okeno’s significant efforts in reducing violence against women and creating safe spaces for them. She emphasized that the projects focused on poultry rearing for widows and young mothers have provided substantial economic empowerment.

In an interview with GGTV on Tuesday afternoon, following their tour of the Diocese of Butere and a meeting with the bishop and senior Secretariat members, Nicole explained that their visit to Kenya aims to expand partnerships within the country. The organization seeks to engage faith leaders in discussions about gender equality.

Nicole noted that the diocese has actively explored various opportunities to uplift the lives of teenage mothers, young mothers, and widows. She was accompanied by Joy Kimani, a Projects Officer at the institute, and Esther Nabachwa, who oversees Early Childhood Development.

Bishop Rose Okeno expressed the diocese’s commitment to long-term projects designed to assist disadvantaged members of society. Nicole’s team also had the opportunity to meet with teenage and young mothers at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere, as well as with widows at St. Stephen’s Mulwanda.
