
A distinguished philanthropist in the field of education, Rev. Leonard Nyikuli, who dedicated his life to mobilizing resources, time, and expertise to support educational initiatives for underprivileged students, was laid to rest at his father’s home in Emung’abo village, Khushiku sub-location, Khwisero sub-county.
During the burial service held at Ekambuli Secondary School on Saturday, colleagues from both the clergy and the educational community paid tribute to Rev. Nyikuli, celebrating him as a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Speakers highlighted his pivotal role in enhancing access to quality education, fostering innovation, and addressing systemic inequalities within the education sector. His philanthropic contributions left a lasting impact, including funding scholarships, supporting teacher training programs, and investing in educational technology.

Bishop Rose Okeno of the ACK Diocese of Butere described Rev. Nyikuli as a wise and spiritually mature leader whose absence will be deeply felt. Drawing inspiration from Revelation 14:13, she offered words of hope to Rev. Nyikuli’s family, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their faith despite the challenges they may face, assuring them that they will be blessed.
Mama Truphosa Amukhale, Rev. Nyikuli’s mother, spoke fondly of her son, describing him as a person of purpose who led with humility and consistently sought to uplift others through his work.
Rev. Nyikuli is survived by his wife, Sharon Emmah Anungo, and their two children. His legacy of compassion and commitment to education will continue to inspire future generations.
