Bishop Rose Okeno Inaugurates ICT Lab At ACK St. Stephen’s Namasoli

Bishop Rose Okeno, the Bishop of the ACK Diocese of Butere, officially inaugurated an ICT laboratory at ACK St. Stephen’s Namasoli Secondary School on Friday, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing students’ computer literacy skills. This state-of-the-art laboratory, equipped with over thirty computers, was generously funded by the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, and is designed to expose students to global opportunities and activities.

During the dedication ceremony, Bishop Okeno emphasized the need for humility and gratitude when we experience God’s blessings. She highlighted dangers of pride and self glorification, saying its the beginning of destruction. She Also thanked the Khwisero member of parliament Christopher Aseka for his commitment to transformation in schools.

In his address, Speaker Wetangula urged the school administration to make effective use of the new computers while ensuring that students are shielded from inappropriate content that could compromise their moral integrity. “It is essential to secure the computers against access to harmful materials, protecting these innocent children,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Speaker called upon the school’s neighbors to consider providing land for future expansion, promising a commitment of 5 million shillings once the land become available.

Bishop Rose was joined at the event by Rev. Canon Peter Andere, the Mulwanda Archdeacon, and Rev. Jane Orembe, the Namasoli Rural Dean, along with numerous other church leaders. The gathering also included notable political figures such as Khwisero Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka, Sirisia MP John Waluke, Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau, and several other local leaders.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in equipping students with essential skills for the digital age, fostering a brighter future for the community.
