The ACK Diocese of Butere has made a significant advancement in its media capabilities with the recent acquisition of a Sony PXW Z200 camera, a cutting-edge tool designed to enhance the coverage of various church functions and community events. This initiative reflects the diocese’s commitment to modernizing its outreach efforts and utilizing technology to connect more effectively with both its congregation and the broader community.

During a special dedication ceremony held on Tuesday morning at the department’s office, Bishop Rose Okeno underscored the importance of integrating advanced media tools into the church’s mission. She highlighted how this new equipment will not only document worship services but also foster greater engagement and communication among congregants.

“As the diocese embraces this technological advancement, it aims to enhance its visibility and impact within the community, setting a precedent for future media initiatives,” stated Bishop Okeno.

The dedication ceremony, attended by Lay Canon Grace Namai and Finance and Property Officer L/R Fredrick Okello, was a blend of reverence and excitement, filled with prayers, blessings, and the official unveiling of the Sony PXW Z200. Bishop Okeno spoke passionately about the role of modern technology in serving the church, reminding attendees that this camera is not merely a piece of equipment but a vital instrument for sharing the diocese’s mission and vision.

The acquisition of the camera was funded by contributions received from the Church Commissioners of Kenya. Additionally, Bishop Okeno dedicated a projector screen donated by Eric Andalia as part of his thanksgiving offertory.

The ACK Diocese of Butere has been actively enhancing its media initiatives, particularly since the appointment of former Mulembe FM investigative journalist Fredrick Akali as the Diocesan Digital and Communications Coordinator. This strategic move positions the diocese to better engage with its community and effectively communicate its message in an increasingly digital world.

The Sony PXW Z200 is not merely a camera; it is a comprehensive media powerhouse designed to elevate various church functions with sophistication. Equipped with 4K video capabilities, a 1.0-type Exmor R sensor, and dual SD card slots, the PXW Z200 is a serious contender in the realm of professional videography. Its exceptional low-light performance makes it an ideal tool for capturing everything from intimate candlelit services to vibrant Sunday gatherings that resemble rock concerts.

The PXW Z200 will significantly enhance worship services by enabling the diocese to produce professional-quality videos. This advancement allows congregants to relive unforgettable moments or share them with friends who are curious about the Sunday experience. By improving media coverage, the diocese can engage those unable to attend in person, ensuring that no one misses out on the shared joys and spiritual experiences. The goal is to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging, whether they are seated in the pews or participating from halfway around the globe.

By harnessing the power of technology, the ACK Diocese of Butere is demonstrating that faith can flourish in the digital age, creating connections and illuminating the spiritual journey for congregants near and far. Under the guidance of Bishop Rose Okeno and with the support of the congregation, this initiative promises to enhance the coverage of church events and outreach programs, fostering deeper engagement with both current and prospective members.

The Digital and Communication Department looks forward to a future where faith and modern communication tools work hand in hand to spread its message and serve the community effectively.
