Bishop Rose Okeno of the ACK Diocese of Butere has called upon school principals to invite divine guidance as they lead their institutions, emphasizing the importance of God as a shepherd in their leadership journey.

During a breakfast service held on Tuesday morning at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere, the Rt. Rev. Okeno highlighted the necessity for unity and collaboration among educational leaders, urging them to take proactive roles in their schools. She stressed the importance of clearly communicating their vision and providing guidance to their teams to foster academic excellence.

Drawing inspiration from the Gospel of John, Chapter 10, Bishop Okeno encouraged educators to focus on their strengths rather than being hindered by perceived weaknesses, reminding them that God transforms challenges into opportunities for growth.

Additionally, the bishop advocated for the adoption of the Pastoral Program Instruction (PPI) programs within schools, stating, “I commend those who have embraced the PPI program and challenge those who have not yet done so to consider its transformative potential. We will conduct a review to assess our progress in this area.”

Bishop Okeno also took the opportunity to propose the establishment of a Diocesan Education Day, which would serve as a dedicated occasion for reflection on educational achievements and challenges within the diocese.

The breakfast service was attended by notable figures, including James Amukhale, Vice Chair of the Synod; and Lay Canon Grace Amira, Chairperson of the Education Board, among other members.

This gathering, held at the beginning of each term, serves as a platform for the bishop to engage with school principals, fostering spiritual growth and mutual encouragement in their commitment to serve.
