The ACK Butere Diocesan Music and Liturgy Coordinator, Reverend Everline Opanda, is urging all church parishes within the diocese to establish strong choir membership to support the ministry of Christ. Reverend Opanda emphasized the importance of music in enhancing the ministry and spreading the gospel, calling on churches to prioritize developing robust music programs.
Furthermore, Reverend Opanda announced that this year’s music festivals will be held in December, encouraging all church choirs to begin preparations early to participate. She also revealed plans to create a diocesan choir with members from each deanery, highlighting its crucial role in performances at all diocesan events. Those interested in joining the choir are encouraged to reach out to her office.
Reverend Edward Akhwale, the diocesan mission director, echoed Reverend Opanda’s sentiments, emphasizing the significance of taking music seriously. He noted that research shows Anglicans do not fully appreciate their musical heritage, despite its essential role in their liturgy.

These statements were made on Friday, March 28, 2025, following a diocesan music workshop training at the ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere.
