The Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Butere, has entered into a partnership with the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Diocese of Mara, in order to jointly fulfill a common mission of proclaiming the gospel in a manner that reflects the body of Christ.
The two dioceses have established a six-point agenda, which includes the strengthening of fellowship to cultivate mutual relationships through prayer, worship, and spiritual encouragement, as well as supporting each other in faith and discipleship.
Additionally, they will collaborate on missions and evangelism by spreading the Gospel, sharing resources and strategies for effective mission work, and engaging in joint outreach programs.
Bishop Rose Okeno of the ACK Diocese of Butere announced this partnership during a Sunday service at St. Luke’s Cathedral, alongside her counterpart from the Mara Diocese, Bishop Dr. George Okoth. She also highlighted the Clergy and Lay Leaders Exchange Programs, which will provide opportunities for clergy and lay leaders to learn from each other through exchange visits, training, and shared ministry experiences.

Furthermore, the enthusiastic fourth diocesan bishop emphasized that the two dioceses have committed to Social Transformation and Development initiatives, focusing on promoting education, healthcare, community development, and social justice to address the spiritual and physical needs of their communities.
Other programs will include Youth and Women’s Empowerment initiatives aimed at supporting the growth and leadership development of young people and women within their churches and communities.
Her sentiments were echoed by her ACT Mara diocese counterpart bishop Dr. Okoth who pledged a relationship that is built on mutual respect, transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that our partnership remains fruitful for generations to come.
He thanked his host bishop for the wonderful reception they have experienced in their visit to Butere urging the Butere clergy to visit them in Tanzania as they aim to actualize their agreed memorandum in the spread on Gods ministry.
In his sermon Bishop Dr. Okoth urged Christians to remain steadfast in prayer and work.
Later, the visiting bishop was joined by his clergy who were placed in various parishes of the diocese for pastorial work before they set off for their journey back home.
Bishop Okeno bid them farewell as she wished them best of lack.
