
The Anglican Church of Tanzania, Diocese of Mara, led by Bishop George Okoth, has expressed his satisfaction with the ministry of God in the Diocese of Butere. Bishop Okoth commended the Butere Diocese for its well-established structures that effectively cater to the needs of the church.
During his visit to St. Stephens Mulwanda Parish and Namasoli Hospital, Bishop Okoth emphasized the importance of the strong foundation laid in the diocese, which provides a conducive environment for spiritual growth among church members. He praised the leadership of the fourth Diocesan Bishop, Rose Okeno, for her progressive ministry aimed at uplifting Anglicans in the Diocese of Butere and the wider community.
Bishop Okoth began his day with a meeting with Bishop Rose and a representation of the Diocesan management at AICMAR- West Kenya Hall, where he was briefed on the strategic plan of the ACK Butere Diocese, including its vision and mission. Following the meeting, Bishop Okoth, accompanied by his wife Janet together with the provost of ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral visited St. Stephens Mulwanda, where he engaged with members of the Mulwanda Butere Community Development Trust-BUCODET group to explore insightful opportunities where they were welcomed by the Ven. Canon Peter Andere. He commended the group members for their success stories and highlighted the project’s positive impact on the live of the church

Subsequently, Bishop Okoth toured Namasoli Hospital for pastoral mission work, where he offered prayers for the sick and interacted with the hospital staff under the leadership of Administrator Moses Khatete. He encouraged the staff to work diligently, reminding them of their crucial role in God’s ministry within their respective departments.
The visiting bishop later in the afternoon met the Butere clergy BUCODET group at the ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere where he was impressed by the proactive steps taken by the clergy to save and invest in their future.
During his address to the clergy, Bishop Okoth emphasized the importance of trusting in God for provision, especially during times of financial constraints. He encouraged the clergy to continue saving whatever little they may have, as a way of securing their future and fulfilling their mission.
The clergy members from Mara diocese have been actively engaging in pastoral work in various parishes in Butere. Their dedication and commitment to their mission has been evident throughout their visit, as they strive to make a positive impact on the community.

Bishop George Okoth, leading a delegation of over 80 clergy members from the Mara diocese, is currently on a pastoral mission in Butere and the purpose of their visit is not only to engage in pastoral work but also to learn and exchange ideas with the clergy in Butere.
He is expected to lead a joint mothers union and KAMA rally at ACK St. Stephen’s Inaya church on Saturday morning of March 22, 2025.
