The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Butere, under the leadership of Bishop Rose Okeno, has challenged the new principal of ACK St. Stephens Shiatsala Secondary School to strive for total transformation in his new role, with the aim of making a positive impact on the wider community.
Bishop Rose emphasized the church’s belief in the transformative power of education, highlighting its ability to bring about positive change. She called upon all education stakeholders to come together with a shared goal of achieving success in education and raising the standards of the school. ACK St. Stephens Shiatsala Secondary School holds a special place in the hearts of many, being renowned as one of the best day schools in Butere.
The Right Reverend Okeno delivered these remarks during the induction service of Mr. Aquinas Wamukoya, who assumed the position of principal in January 2025. Mr. Wamukoya comes to this role from Lusengeli High School in Vihiga County, succeeding Gadd Ojala who moved to Busia County.

Bishop Okeno advised school leaders to demonstrate selflessness and attentiveness to the needs of the people they serve, emphasizing the importance of active listening. Drawing inspiration from the book of John 21:1-17, she stressed the significance of mentoring the next generation of leaders and delegating responsibilities effectively.
Furthermore, Bishop Rose encouraged a spirit of teamwork within schools, highlighting its role in fostering growth and improvement for all members of the institution. By working together towards a common goal, schools can create a positive and supportive environment for both students and staff.
Principal Wamukoya expressed his commitment to ensuring the success of the school, which is home to over eight hundred students. He emphasized the importance of parental cooperation with the school’s management and teachers to achieve this goal.
The induction service was well-attended by principals from other Butere ACK sponsored schools, with Lay Canon Luke Ogolla of Lunza Boys High School leading the group. Also present were Habil Malika of Butere Boys High School, Joseph Inganga of Shitsitswi Secondary, Patrick Shikanda of Bukolwe Secondary, and Mrs. Leah Chibole of Mukoye Girls Secondary, among others.

Ogolla warmly welcomed Mr. Wamukoya back to Butere Diocese, where he had previously served at Shikunga Secondary School and Lunza Secondary when it was still a mixed secondary school..
