The Women’s Ministry in the ACK Diocese of Butere actively participated in the World Day of Prayer by organizing prayer sessions in their respective churches. The Diocesan Coordinator, Lay Reader Josephine Mombo, led the prayer session at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral on Friday morning, urging women worldwide to come together in prayer for their families and to stand as pillars in God’s creation.

During the session, Mrs. Mombo emphasized the importance of living in accordance with God’s will to lead a life that pleases Him. She also called upon the women in the ACK Diocese of Butere to unite and serve God diligently with love.

Mrs. Mary Omoke, the wife of the provost at the cathedral, delivered a powerful sermon based on Psalm 139, highlighting God’s ways of answering prayers, aligning with this year’s theme. A similar service was held at ACK Ituti Parish, where Rev. Tabitha Ongoma encouraged female parishioners to embrace God’s love and use it to minister to their families.

The World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical Christian initiative observed annually on the first Friday in March, providing a platform for women to share their hopes, fears, joys, and needs. The Diocese of Butere through the fourth diocesan bishop Rose Okeno has been at the forefront of advocating for gender equity and combating gender-based violence through such services.
