Bishop Rose Okeno has issued a powerful call to action for everyone, including female clergy to unite in raising awareness about gender-based violence and advocating for its eradication.

In a recent gathering of the ACK Diocese of Butere women clergy fellowship, Bishop Okeno urged women to boldly speak out against abuse and champion gender equality across all sectors of society.

She emphasized the crucial role that women can play in this vital campaign by approaching the issue from a spiritual perspective and leveraging their platforms to amplify messages of equality, compassion, and justice.

The discussion took place on 25th November, marking the beginning of the annual sixteen days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which runs from November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10th, International Human Rights Day.

Rev. Florence Aseka echoed Bishop Okeno’s sentiments, encouraging female clergy to leverage their positions within their faith communities to educate others on the importance of respecting women and promoting a culture of non-violence.

The current femicide in Kenya was a major concern, and the female clergy in Butere strongly condemned it and called on the government to take responsibility. Together, these women leaders are paving the way for a more just and equitable society.
