The ACK Diocese of Butere has officially launched its 2024/25 Thanksgiving drive, aiming to cultivate a sense of gratitude and fellowship among church congregants.

Bishop Rose Okeno expressed her gratitude for the initiative, noting its significant impact on the diocese over the past three years. She highlighted the success of the Thanksgiving drive during the launch event at the Bishops Bourne, where she also hosted a bonding party for the heads of schools sponsored by the Butere Diocese ACK.

During her address, Rt. Rev. Okeno outlined the accomplishments made possible by the initiative, such as acquiring a plot in Kakamega for a multi-story building dedicated to church investments. She encouraged teachers in the diocese to unite, utilizing their skills and unique qualities to promote a culture of excellence.

Acknowledging the partnership between teachers and the church, Bishop Okeno urged school leaders to strive for their institutions to become symbols of excellence and innovation.

At the event, the principal of St. Francis Eshirembe secondary school, Charles Watanga, presented Bishop Okeno with a copy of his inspirational book, “Passions and Poisons.” The book immortalizes the bishop’s teachings on the interconnectedness of spiritual, emotional, and physical health, emphasizing the need for harmony among the three for overall well-being.

The annual event at the Bishops Bourne serves as a bonding and stress-relief function for heads of institutions, featuring devotion, sharing experiences, singing, dancing, snacks, and meals. The event was attended by TVET principals, the vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee, James Amukhale, and Education Secretary Canon Robert Matati, along with other distinguished guests.

The school heads join in songs and dances.
