The Butere Community Development Trust chairperson Roseline Muleshe has challenged the members of the public within the Butere and Khwisero sub-counties to join BUCODET for investment and growth.

Mrs. Muleshe said savings will assist members in borrowing money and enhancing their investment activities.

Speaking today at ACK St. Luke’s Cathedral in Butere, the chairperson urged the church through the members of the clergy in parishes to sensitize church members on the importance of savings.

“Bucodet is for the people who wish to start saving and borrow at an interest rate of one percent. To me, this is almost free money that people are being encouraged to take and repay without any burden. This will help them to grow,” said the chairperson.

She added that BUCODET is aimed at developing a program that will run at the church parish level and will assist members in understanding its programs.

Mrs. Muleshe was speaking on Wednesday afternoon after a BUCODET PMC meeting with all officials at the parish level.

Bishop Rose Okeno who presided over the meeting assured the members that the BUCODET funds are in the safe hands of professionals who ensure that they aren’t mismanaged.

She emphasized the importance of the BUCODET initiative as a poverty eradication tool aimed at better livelihoods and enhancing meaningful investment.

Butere Community Development Trust is a diocesan socio-economic empowerment vehicle aimed at improving livelihoods in Butere and Khwisero sub-counties.
