Anticipation and excitement filled the halls of the Diocesan headquarters as the staff eagerly gathered for a transformative three-day retreat at the Ukweli Pastoral Centre. The retreat promised not only spiritual rejuvenation but also personal growth and a stronger sense of unity among the team.

Amidst a palpable sense of camaraderie, the staff embarked on their journey to the Ukweli Pastoral Centre. The scenic drive allowed for moments of reflection as they left behind the hustle and bustle of their daily lives and embraced the serenity of the countryside.

Upon arrival, the magnificent Ukweli Pastoral Centre welcomed them with open arms. Nestled amidst lush greenery and rolling hills, it provided the perfect ambiance for self-discovery and growth.

The retreat commenced with a powerful Holy Communion Service, presided over by Bishop Rose. Her heartfelt sermon drew inspiration from 1 Corinthians 3:10-17, encouraging the staff to recognize the significance of their work and the impact they could have on others. She reminded them that their contributions to the Diocese were not merely tasks but opportunities to add value and create a lasting legacy.

Following the service, Canon Peter Adolwa, an experienced facilitator, took the stage to lead the staff through a series of insightful sessions. On the first day, they delved into the profound question: “Who are you?” Through introspective exercises and open discussions, the staff explored their values, passions, and strengths. The session ignited a sense of self-awareness and inspired them to embrace their unique qualities.

Day two was dedicated to a deeper understanding of the Diocese as an organization and each staff member’s role within it. Canon Peter facilitated discussions on “Understanding Your Organization” and “Understanding Your Role.” The staff gained insights into the Diocese’s mission, vision, and core values, recognizing the importance of aligning their efforts with the broader goals of the organization.

The topic on “Secrets to Successful Strategy Execution” provided valuable insights on day two. Canon Peter shared practical tips and techniques to translate strategic plans into action effectively, empowering the staff to work cohesively towards common objectives.

As day three dawned, the staff engaged in the topic of “Workplan & Reporting.” They learned the significance of effective planning and reporting in fostering transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The final session on “Self Development (Growing Yourself)” was a powerful conclusion to the retreat. The staff explored the importance of personal growth and how it positively impacts their professional lives and the community they serve. They left with a renewed commitment to invest in their own development and continue making a meaningful difference.

In the evenings before dinner, the staff bonded and unwound through games and team-building activities. Laughter echoed across the grounds as they shared moments of joy and camaraderie.

As the retreat drew to a close, the staff returned to the Diocesan headquarters with hearts filled with inspiration and a profound sense of unity. The wisdom shared by Bishop Rose and Canon Peter had reinvigorated their spirits and instilled a deeper sense of purpose in their work.

Armed with newfound knowledge and a sense of direction, the Diocesan staff resumed their responsibilities with a stronger commitment to add value and create positive change within the Diocese. The retreat had forged a stronger bond among the team members and had equipped them to continue growing both personally and professionally. The impact of those three transformative days at Ukweli Pastoral Centre would resonate throughout their lives and the Diocese they passionately served.
